Recycled Coffee Grounds

Recycled Coffee Grounds

Taiwan's thriving coffee industry and the significant waste produced by spent coffee grounds. Each year, Taiwan consumes around 2.85 billion cups of coffee, generating approximately 57,000 metric tons of coffee grounds. Disposing of these as general waste contributes to environmental issues, yet recycling one ton of coffee grounds could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 187 kilograms.

Some companies repurpose coffee grounds into eco-friendly products like compost, building materials, cups, clothing, and shoes. However, inconsistent quality in recycled grounds often requires further processing to ensure successful repurposing. To tackle this, HOUCHI MACHINE uses grinding equipment to refine coffee grounds from 0.5–1.0 mm to 14.8–82 µm particles. This transformation yields finer, more uniform coffee powder, improving stability and usability in subsequent manufacturing processes.
